Trivia

I removed the following trivia:

  • During casting this character was named Arthur Stevens

If someone can find a illegitimate source for the quote go right ahead and re-add it. But if it is solely from hearsay or spoiler material (as I believe it is since, thats what i heard) we can't add it like this. If it is just spoiler, it could be readded such as "In the hiatus leading up to Season 4 it was believed this character would be called Arthur Stevens" or something along those lines. Without official information we can't say during casting....etc. hope this makes sense. -Mr.Leaf 14:16, 14 January 2008 (PST)

I've reworded it minorly. See Lostpedia:General_usage_guide#Citing_Sources and therefore Lostpedia:Canon . A reliable source is unfortunately not tv guide, their is no solid evidence to back it up as official (only ABC can release official material). I have no problem keeping it just as long as it is mentioned it was rumored and was never official.-Mr.Leaf 14:31, 14 January 2008 (PST)
The original source for all the various reports about Arthur Stevens was the casting information sent out by the production. When the casting material went out, the name Arthur Stevens was used but we dont know if they ever intended to use that name in the show. In other words, its confirmed from official sources that the character was cast using that name, but we can't assume anything more than that. Dharmatel4 14:51, 14 January 2008 (PST)
If we can get an image of that casting call we can add it as official. However atm all i have seen (as I try to avoid spoilers as much as possible) is people saying that the casting information says the name Arthur Stevens. Have we actually seen a copy of the casting info with that name written on it? If not it is merely word of mouth and speculative. I am not trying to be evil or doubt you, i had heard this rumor months ago as well, but what we hear as spoiler or even as official is not always the same on the wiki. In order for the wiki to retain it's credibility we try and source everything (officially) as much as possible. It's not a big deal to add the word rumoured but it makes a big difference if we claim something was official released or rumoured to be. Hope that makes sense. Also it is very common for casting calls (or even press releases) to use fake names so it isn't a big deal in the mean time as come Jan 31 we will find out the truth.-Mr.Leaf 14:59, 14 January 2008 (PST)
More (better) information. They talk in this article [1] about Arthur Stevens, casting notices and say they often use false names. Dharmatel4 14:57, 14 January 2008 (PST)

Name?

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Arthur Stevens is, well, better? Clearly they're trying to draw all the devil parallels and such, but I'm not sure if the name works. Still, I'm sure after a while I'll get used to it, as I did with Ben.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  02:51, 20 January 2008 (PST)
    • He's A bad'un MeatyDoughnut 10:14, 4 February 2008 (PST)
      • "A bad one", as opposed to one of Ben's crew, Goodwin, or "good one" This name also puts one in the mind of "abandon," as in what the Oceanic 6 did to the rest of the survivors.--LostTeach 00:29, 6 March 2008 (PST)

Rename

It's Abaddon, not Abbadon. This mistake seems to have been replicated to several locations now. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edward Teach (talkcontribs) .

Rename: The press releases for 4x02 and 4x03 both state "Abaddon". Also in Find 815, the clue from the Yahoo!7 site was "Abaddon". -- Graft   talk   contributions  00:26, 2 February 2008 (PST)
He isn't named in the press release for 4x03. The one for 4x01 was the original source and that spells it with two b's and one d --Hunter61 03:04, 3 February 2008 (PST)
Being the earliest source doesn't hold much value when there is one press release with one spelling and one with another. One of the spellings is a mistake; and when a mistake happens, it usually gets corrected subsequently. I think one press release, a Find 815 clue, closed captioning, and the conventional spelling of the word according to Google searches and Wikipedia would outweigh the first press release. (that's weird btw, I thought for sure it was in the 4x03 one) -- Graft   talk   contributions  03:39, 3 February 2008 (PST)
Agree. Also edit 'What Bad Boatmen' anagram from the Trivia section, as this becomes obsolete.--Chester Kilburn 07:58, 2 February 2008 (PST)
Agree: While I don't think it's 100% certain yet that it's Abaddon, it definitely seems like the most likely spelling. Since we have to pick one as the title of the page, I think it makes sense to go with what seems most likely. --Compossible 12:12, 2 February 2008 (PST)
Agree: On the closed captioning, it is spelled, "Abaddon".     Nusentinsaino     talk    contribs    email

Torchwood?

It's a lovely show and everything, but adding info about a Torchwood episode to this article seems completely pointless. I've reverted it back, but if anyone wants to discuss it, I guess this is the place!--Chocky 11:26, 1 February 2008 (PST)

Star Wars, WTF?

It can be argued that the Return of the Jedi reference is irrevelant too. Yes? --Kittenmommy 14:05, 1 February 2008 (PST)

  • Very true, I didn't notice that the first time round. I don't think we need to include any of this stuff in Lostpedia- it belongs in Wikipedia!

Jacob?

Does anyone else think his voice sounds like Jacobs when he says "Help Me" to Locke?

Am I Hearing Things?

I'm starting to think I may be imagining things, but during the Naomi/Abaddon conversation in Confirmed Dead, it seemed like the sound people had mixed in a sort of rumbling sound with Abaddon's voice. It was particularly noticeable when Abaddon stopped talking and Naomi started, and it sounded a little like the flashback transition sound. Did anyone else notice this? Was it present when Abaddon talked with Hurley in The Beginning of the End?

Cause of Jack's Depression

Anyone else think that Abaddon could be the reason why Jack took a turn for the worse in Through The Looking Glass? Maybe Abaddon visited Jack shortly after visiting Hurley, and put a huge guilt trip on him.--Vico 14:06, 18 February 2008 (PST)

Relationship

People seem to assume that he hired Naomi's team, but based on his conversation with Naomi, doesn't is seem possible that he and Naomi are part of the same team (he's her boss) and their team was hired by someone else (e.g. Penny)? The tone of the conversation seems to me more like "this is your assignment" than "here's what I'm hiring you for".--Bonefishj0e 15:29, 19 February 2008 (PST)

Connection to Lance Reddick's Fringe Character?

So, I know this one's a long-shot, seeing as the shows are on two different networks (FOX and ABC) - but bear with me for a minute. If any of you have seen J.J. Abrams' new show Fringe, you'll notice many similarities to Lost. Both start out on a plane as a disaster happens. Both deal with similar subject manner, in the form of fringe or pseudo-science. In the pilot episode, they make reference to someone waking up from a coma reciting "numbers."

Anyway, Lance Reddick plays one of the main characters on the show - and in this case is a mysterious high-ranking agent of sorts who seems to have information about said number-reciter as well as other strange phenomena (such as a plane flying over Sri Lanka possibly connected to the Tsunami).

I have a feeling that J.J. Abrams is purposefully having Reddick play the same character, at the very least as a reference to Lost - similar to how Stephen King's repetitious use of Randall Flagg. Maybe it's even possible that the plots will tie-over and connect. Not in any official obvious manner (as the cross-network thing would prevent that) but maybe in such a way where us obsessive fans will be able to find clues / deduce plot connections between the two.

Any thoughts? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Phnord (talkcontribs) .
